Catherine Ford is a British actress born in Bloomsbury. When her father's divorce from her family members, she was grew to maturity by her mother, godparents and grandmother. In her childhood, Ford suffered anxiety due to an obsessional-compulsive disorder. Ford was intrigued by the field of acting during her teens and joined National Youth Theatre. Ford was accepted to Sylvia Young Theatre School but after a week, she decided that she wasn't a good fit. Ford then applied for a spot at the Central School of Speech and Drama and received an acceptance on her fourth attempt. Shaun Dingwall - who later was the character Pete Tyler in Doctor Who was also one of her classmates. Ford's television debut was in an episode in 1991 called Surgical Spirit. By the time she graduated, Ford already went by "Catherine Tate". Tate began her TV debut in 1991, appearing on shows like The Bill. Men Behaving Badly. and London's Burning. The regular theatre work she performed brought her into the Royal Shakespeare Company, for the 2000-2001 Season. Tate was recognized for her stand-up comedy that was added to her portfolio in the year 1996.
